Hit boy band One Direction are to perform for the Queen during the upcoming Variety Performance.

The X Factor runners up, made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, will join performers such as Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond and Alicia Keys at the event which will be hosted by comedian David Walliams.

The group will perform their latest single, Little Things, written by Ed Sheeran.

Speaking about the possibility of meeting the Queen in the past, band member Harry Styles told MTV: "I’d love to meet Her Royal Highness.

“We’ve got a lot of big plans but I’m sure anything would be struck out of the diary if an invitation came along.”

Queen Elizabeth will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh for the 100th anniversary of the event at the Royal Albert Hall on November 19.

Also in the line up is British artist Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, and Girls Aloud.

The performance will raise funds for the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund, helping to maintain its retirement and nursing home in Twickenham, London.
