One Direction is again proving that they are a force to be reckoned after their recently announced Madison Square Garden summer tour date sold out in just ten minutes. The band revealed they’d be hitting the road over the summer after basking in huge success here in the US.

MarketWatch reports on the impressive rise to fame the One Direction lads have enjoyed since making a break for the lucrative yet hard-to-crack American market. Securing a devoted legion of fans who call themselves ‘Directioners,’ One Direction began the first UK band ever to debut at number one on the US charts with their album ‘Up All Night.’

Their hit song ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ has recently gone platinum having sold 1 million units.

Fame is blooming for the five boys who range in age between 18 and 20. Each of the boys tried out for the UK version of the ‘X Factor’ as soloists, but it was Simon Cowell who grouped them together and formed One Direction. Evidently, a few stars were born.

Last weekend was a highlight in One Direction’s still rising career. The boys made a guest appearance on the Nickelodeon show ‘iCarly,’ and, that same night, were featured as the musical guests on ‘Saturday Night Live.’

"Our fans are simply the best in the world,” said Irish band member Niall Horan who hails from Mullingar. “The support they have shown us has been incredible and we're all so grateful to each and every one of them. We can't wait to see everyone this summer, at Madison Square Garden and of course when we play our world tour in 2013.”

The upcoming summer tour for One Direction will take the boy band around the US and Canada. Next year in 2013, the boys will embark on their first world tour, surely further broadening the already impressive amount of dedicated fans.
