U2 failed to win any prizes at the Meteor Awards in Dublin yesterday, despite the success and publicity surrounding their recent album “No Line on the Horizon.” Instead younger bands like Snow Patrol and Westlife were at the fore.

When it came to live performance, a Dublin trio in their twenties called The Script won out – even though U2’s 360 live tour sold out internationally last year.

The band seems happy not to have won, however. A source told the Irish Independent, “U2 are delighted. This year's Meteor Awards means that new Irish talent is coming up. The band are happy that new Irish acts are being recognized and wish them every success.”

Some oldies did have an opportunity to take to the stage however. Christy Moore won Best Irish male, Sharon Shannon won Best Traditional Folk, and Leonard Cohen took home the prize for Best International Live performance.
