The troubled star is getting rid of baggage – literally. Lindsay Lohan has announced she will sell her extra belongings in aid of charity, according to British website femalefirst.co.uk.

"Lindsay's growing up and she's been through a lot,” her mother Dina said. “She's trying to move forward.”

“We're donating a lot of it to charity. Some of it will go on our Web site lohanhouse.com," Dina added.

The actress apparently receives many items which she doesn’t want or need. "It's not just stuff that she bought,” her mom explained. “A lot if it is gifted so it's not necessarily stuff she buys. Like, a company will send five pairs of jeans. So we're going to donate items like that."

Lohan herself, who broke up with girlfriend Samantha Ronson last year, has had a lot of negative press, and there is plenty she wants to put behind her.

“There are a lot of people that are there for the wrong reasons,” she said according to femalefirst.co.uk. “I started to realize a lot more was being taken from me than was given.”

The 23-year-old sounded jaded. “It became more draining than anything else. In this industry, people build you up to knock you down,” she continued. “If everything is in its place then I will be able to breathe.”
