It looks like Lindsay Lohan critics rang the death toll for the actress’ career a bit too soon.

The Irish-American star has confirmed that she’s been cast in the new movie “Machete,” a spin-off of Robert Rodriguez’s popular film “Grindhouse.”

Lohan posted on her Twitter account: “Something was made official today!!!!!!!!!" along with a link to "Machete's" IMDB.com page, which shows she’s been cast alongside screen legend Robert De Niro, action movie hero Steven Seagal and “Superbad” funny man Jonah Hill.

Rodriguez, who will direct the “Grindhouse” follow-up, expressed his interest in teaming up with the troubled tabloid queen in an interview with MTV.com in July, stating: "We're casting right now, and the script just came out great…There are a lot of people we're sending it to, big names – but nobody that we've signed yet.

"Lindsay [Lohan]'s cool. There's actually a cool part in the movie for her – if she takes it."

And the 23-year-old actress, who’s more known for her wild party girl ways than her movies, has done just that.

The “Mean Girls” star’s turn in "Machete" will be just her second movie role in two years, following her straight-to-TV film “Labor Pains.”

“Machete” tells the tale of an assassin who’s betrayed by his former bosses, and decides to seek brutal vengeance. The film is set for a 2010 release.
