Just 48 hours after Lee DeWyze was crowned 2010’s “American Idol” his first single, a cover of U2’s “Beautiful Day”, is soaring up the iTunes chart.

DeWyze’s debut single is currently ranked at number two in charts, only behind Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”. So far there are been 760 purchases the gravely voices rockers is getting a respectable four-and-a-half stars out of five.

This is his first released single and it’s now selling for $1.29 a pop. He performed the cover of, the hugely successful, U2 tune last Tuesday, as part of the finale show.

Earlier this morning Crystal Bowersox’s single was selling considerably better than DeWyze during the prerelease period but now it seems that once again DeWyze has come out on top.
