Thousands of Justin Bieber fans laid siege to a downtown Belfast hotel last night expecting their idol to show up there. Staff had huge problems containing the fans as they tried repeatedly to get into the hotel through a revolving door.

Screaming girls also clashed with hotel security outside as they tried to establish a security perimeter
Bieber had arrived with his girlfrined Selena Gomez for the European MTV awards.

He has fought off controversy all week about a woman’s allegation that he fathered her child which he has vehemently denied.

TMZ reported on Sunday that Bieber will take a DNA test to prove that he is not the father.
Bieber was spotted on Saturday night in Belfast as he took girlfriend Selena Gomez to a secret dinner on the eve of the MTV Europe Music Awards

He won the award for best act while Lady Gaga won for best song. The focus appeared to be on someone other that Lady Gaga for once however, with fans and media flocking to Bieber.

The MTV European awards cost Belfast over $1.5 million to stage but the city expects at $10 million boost in publicity.

Legdendary Queen guitarist Brian May said the MTV show  showed how Belfast had found "true peace" after years of sectarian violence.

"It's wonderful to be in Belfast," he said.
