Jimmy Kimmel has been named as the host for the White House Correspondents' Association 98th annual dinner next April 28.

"I look forward to being a part of the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner," the host of the ABC late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" said in a statement. "I love dinner."

"Jimmy's humor is sophisticated and edgy while appealing to a wide audience," said Reuters journalist Caren Bohan, president of the White House Correspondents' Association. "We are thrilled that Jimmy has accepted our invitation to be the featured comedian at our annual dinner."

The annual event is attended by the President and First Lady, other senior government officials as well as press correspondants, and well known celebrities. The evening showcases comical talent and seizes the opportunity to poke fun at the powers that be.

The proceeds from the star studded event are donated to scholarships and awards aimed at aspiring journalists. They also recognize excellence in the profession.
