Hollywood star Jim Carrey will travel to Cappawhite, County Tipperary to attend his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White’s funeral.

The 53-year-old actor had been romantically involved with the 30-year-old Irish make-up artist for a number of years. White was found dead in her Sherman Oaks, CA home last Monday, Sep 28. It’s reported that Carrey ended their relationship just five days before her death.

It is believed that White's death was due to a drug overdose. An autopsy is expected to confirm that White took her own life. TMZ reports that the pill bottles found next to White’s body were made out to an alias that Carrey allegedly uses.

A week ago White tragically posted a WB Yeats quote to Intagram:

Last week White’s mother and sister, Brigid and Lisa, flew to Los Angeles to take her body home to Tipperary. Carrey was seen at the Sherman Oaks home on Wednesday.

A source told the Sunday People newspaper, "Jim has been left devastated after the tragic death of Cathriona. Attending her funeral in Ireland will be the least he could do to pay tribute to the woman he loved.

"He has been in touch with Cathriona’s family and they want him at the funeral. They know how much he meant to her."

It is also thought that the actor has been offering emotional and financial support to the family as they prepare for the funeral.

An insider shared, "Jim is doing everything he can to help. He is devastated, but can't imagine how her family must feel.

"Jim arranged for his driver to pick up Cathriona's family from LAX. Her family has access to his car during this awful visit to L.A. [He's] helping out financially as well.

"Jim has spent time with Lisa in the past during her Los Angeles visits. He feels it's his obligation to do whatever he can to help Lisa."

Carrey and White reportedly split only five days before her death.

On September 20 the couple had enjoyed a romantic dinner together at Nobu, in Malibu to celebrate her birthday.

An onlooker told the Daily Mail, “They looked really happy together, kissing and looking into each other's eyes. It was a very romantic meal.

“They arrived together and went straight out to their table, secluded away from the other diners on the balcony.

“It just seemed like a happy couple having a romantic dinner. That's made the news about Cathriona even more shocking.”

She had posted this selfie to Instagram just before the celebrations:
