Hayden Panettiere has been cast as Amanda Knox over Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox. "The Amanda Knox Story" will tell the story of real-life U.S. exchange student, Amanda Knox's, sensational Italian murder trial leading from the brutal murder of her roommate.

The Knox story became an object of international fascination when she and her Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were arrested in November 2007. The pair were accused of killing Meredith Kercher, their 21-year-old roommate, in a violent night fueled by sex and drugs.

Knox, her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Italian native Rudy Guede were charged with sexually assaulting Kercher. Knox was accused of slashing her throat with a knife.

At the end of her trial, in December 2009, she was sentenced to 26 years in prison. She maintains that she is innocent. Her boyfriend received 25 years which Guede received 30 years in a separate trial.

Panettiere signed the deal with the Lifetime network. The movie, "The Amanda Knox Story" will be screened on U.S. TV in 2011.
