This April the newly launched RTÉ Player International is bringing the Irish around the world some serious highs and lows in in some of the best loved drama episodes of all time along with champions of great Irish food, just in time for Easter.

The RTÉ Player International launched in March, is a new worldwide online Irish television service with over 500 hours of Irish television, which is regularly refreshed. There’s never been a better way to stay up to date with the news, events and the “craic” from home.

With over 500 hours of free and paid for content covering everything from news and current affairs, comedy, entertainment, documentaries, drama, lifestyle, Irish language and kids programmes, the new app is jam packed with shows for you to enjoy.

But this April we’re all about drama and be warned it’s seriously addictive.

“Coda”

A SXSW winning animated film voiced by Brian Gleeson

This award winning animated short film, starring Brian Gleeson, is part of our drama collection . A must watch, the nine-minute hand-drawn animated film is voiced by Gleeson and Orla Fitzgerald and directed by Alan Holly. Produced under the Frameworks animation and funded by IFB, RTÉ and the Arts Council.

“The Clinic”

(Season 1 - 3) – Recognise anyone?

Did you know Chris O’Dowd, star of the “IT Crowd”, “Gullivers Travels”, “Bridesmaids” and “Moone Boy” also starred in “The Clinic.”

Check Chris out in seasons one to three on RTÉ Player International. Set in the affluent Dublin suburb of Clarence Street, the drama continues at the multi-disciplinary health centre – the cast also includes Amy Huberman, Michelle Fairley (“Game of Thrones”/”Suits”) and Sam Corry.

“Love/Hate”

(Season 1 and 2) – in Australia/Canada/New Zealand

The gritty crime drama set in Dublin’s gangland, is one not to miss. Featuring Aiden Gillen who is best known for “The Wire”, and top international actors Robert Sheehan, Tom Vaughan Lawlor and Aoibinn McGinnity. Consistently amongst the top watched programmes on Irish TV, this gangland drama is compelling viewing

“Amber”

New for the United Kingdom, available in UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand

In this four part drama, written by Gary Duggan and Rob Cawley and starring Eva Birthistle and David Murray, the disappearance of 14-year-old Amber Bailey (Lauryn Canny) sets off a two-year search during which her family go through unimaginable pressures. As the days, months and years progress the mystery deepens, and strange and terrifying clues come to light, raising yet even more questions. Directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan and produced by Screenworks for RTÉ.

Rachel’s favourite food

Rachel Allen studied at the world-famous cookery school, Ballymaloe, where she still teaches. Described as an “Irish Cooking queen,” her food is practical simple and delicious. In this series, she demonstrates easy recipes which use easily accessible ingredients – perfect for a taste of Ireland!

The award winning chef incorporates ingredients from local Irish food producers into recipes for entertaining at home. For Easter, Neven cooks delicious grass-fed Irish lamb, which is accompanied by champ, and roasted root vegetables, perfect for an Easter lunch.
