Irish actress Sharon Horgan and Ruth Negga - as well as the Colin Farrell-fronted series "The Penguin" - could each set records if they win at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14.
Horgan, who was raised in Co Meath and is nominated for her smash-hit show "Bad Sisters," could become the first Irish actress to ever win in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category.
Negga, who was raised in Co Limerick and is nominated for her role in "Presumed Innocent," could become the first Irish actress to ever win in the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Series category.
"The Penguin" - which stars Dublin native Colin Farrell - could break the record of "John Adams" and become the limited/anthology series with the most Emmy wins in a single year; the current record is 13 wins.
The Irish talent is among more than 20 records that could be broken at the Emmys on Sunday, according to VegasInsider.com.
Horgan, Negga, and "The Penguin" are each facing some tough competition for Sunday's award ceremonies.
Horgan's nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category is the only Emmy Award nomination this year for "Bad Sisters," which was filmed and is set in Ireland.
In the category, Horgan is up against Kathy Bates ("Matlock"), Britt Lower ("Severance"), Bella Ramsey ("The Last of Us"), and Keri Russell ("The Diplomat").
Horgan was previously Emmy-nominated for the first season of "Bad Sisters" in 2023, in both the Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series category and the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.
Horgan was also previously nominated in 2016 in the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series category for "Catastrophe."

In the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie category, Negga is up against Erin Doherty ("Adolescence"), Deirdre O'Connell ("The Penguin"), Chloë Sevigny ("Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story"), Jenny Slate ("Dying for Sex"), and Christine Tremarco ("Adolescence").
Negga's "Presumed Innocent" co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Bill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard are also nominated for this year's Emmy Awards.
It is Negga's first Primetime Emmy, though in 2019, she was nominated in the Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program category for "Angela's Christmas" at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

It'll be an extra special event this year for Farrell, who is celebrating his first-ever Emmy nomination. The Dublin native is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie category for his role as Oswald 'Oz' Cobb.
