Alec Baldwin says that he is planning to quit '30 Rock' when his contract expires in 2012. The actor has played egomaniac network executive Jack Donaghy on the popular series since it began in 2006.

In the process, the 52-year-old Baldwin has won several awards for his performance on the hit show, including two Emmys and four Screen Actors Guild prizes. Now, he just wants to live a 'normal' life.

Baldwin announced his decision during an interview on CNN this week.

"As much as I like acting, I know that I would love to have a different life, a private life," he said. "I think doing this now for a living has become really hard. It's really hard.

"I would rather go do other things and have whatever amount of time I have left in my life, have more of a normal life. I want to find out if it's possible. How close can I get."
