A new petition is calling for Apple to add red-headed characters to its emojis line-up.

The petition was started after the company released a beta update to its operating system with 300 new symbols, which included more diversified characters to choose from. Five different skin shades and same-sex family emojis were added to the update.

Emma Kelly, who runs a website for redheads called Ginger Parrot, was disappointed when she realized not one of the new emojis had red hair, The Guardian reports.

“I was looking through them and thought, hang on a second, there’s one missing here,” she said.
Kelly set up a Change.org petition urging Apple to add redheads to their choice of characters.

“I can’t believe redheads didn’t even get one character in Apple’s openly ‘diversified’ collection of emoji. If you say you’re going to diversify, why not add a few ginger-haired emoji in the mix? Sure, we only make up less than 2% of the world’s population, but that is 138,000,000 iPhones waiting to happen,” she said.

Currently, Kelly’s petition has nearly 4,000 signatures. She plans to send the petition to Apple once it hits 10,000 signatures.

Kelly was inspired by the Diversify My Emoji petition, which called on Apple to expand its range of emoji characters. The campaign led to the company’s new update.
