A Dublin grandfather meets his infant grandson for the first time in this heartwarming video.

Paul Dunwoody’s daughter Elaine, who lives in Australia, surprised him earlier this month when she showed up with her three-month-old son Nathan at the Dublin bar where he works.

Elaine, who gave birth in Australia, returned home to Ireland earlier this month to see out the rest of her maternity leave without letting her father know she was coming, reports the Irish Mirror.

"We'd had trouble sorting a passport for Nathan, so he (dad) didn't think I'd be able to get back," she said.

Staff at the Elphin Bar in Baldoyle helped to keep Elaine's arrival a secret.

Luckily someone was on hand to record the beautiful moment when Paul sees his daughter and little Nathan for the first time.

"I've never seen my dad cry, he's usually as hard as nails," Elaine laughs.

"He was so shocked that they had to give him the rest of the day off work!" she added.
