The actor was thrilled when the actress agreed to reprise her cameo role as substitute teacher Holly Holiday opposite his character Will Schuester in the current series of the musical drama show, and would love it if she committed full-time.

When asked if he would like the blond star to become a permanent cast member, he said: “I would definitely welcome that and I think everyone on our show would, but I don't think that's possible because she has her family in London. I've begged her but I don't think it's going to happen.”

Matthew insists having someone of Gwyneth’s acting caliber on the series makes everybody work even harder on set.

Speaking in this week’s issue of Britain’s Star magazine, he added: “Holly Holliday has been a really amazing storyline. Having an Oscar winner in the mix means that everyone brings their A-game, it raises the bar. And whenever Will and Holly are together, it's always going to be hot."

The 32-year-old heartthrob won’t ever forget filming some of their scenes, because she kept kicking him in the groin when they were dancing the Argentine tango.

He said: “Neither of us had really done the tango before, and it was challenging, especially with those kicks that happen in this area (gestures between his thighs). She was really nervous to hit my man love. She connected a couple of times but it was an intense fiery number so when it happened I was like, ‘Ahhh, just got with it.’ I got kicked in the balls by Gwyneth Paltrow!”
