It may have been 'only' under 21 level, however last night Irish soccer achieved one of its finest results ever, as our young guns pulled out a stunning European Championship qualifier win in Casarano, Italy. The hosts had already won the group and Ireland would have to settle for a non qualifying yet admirable third place. This doesn't take the gloss of what was a wonderful result against some of the best U-21 players in the world. Add to this the fact Ireland had not one but two players sent off, and you have to consider this as a fine achievement.

The goal of the night was scored by young Conor Henderson, on the books currently at Arsenal.
