Joe Paterno should be fired by Penn State.

Legend he may be but covering up for a child sex abuser is unforgivable.

Imagine it was your kid that assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was abusing when he was caught in a shower stall with him.

Sandsky used his charity 'The Second Mile' to regularly abuse inner city kids he brought to campus.

Paterno should be out as soon as possible after he covered up the incident and refused to follow up.

The Penn State graduate student and assistant coach who reported the incident to Paterno gave him sufficient evidence to immediately call the police.

Instead Paterno called an audible and only informed the Penn State Athletic Director -- eventually no action was taken.

Instead of pursuing the issue Paterno washed his hands

Paterno is now hiding behind weasel words to try and cover up his shocking inaction.

Paterno said in a statement released on Sunday: "As my grand jury testimony stated, I was informed in 2002 by an assistant coach that he had witnessed an incident in the shower of our locker room facility. It was obvious that the witness was distraught over what he saw, but he at no time related to me the very specific actions contained in the grand jury report."

What did Paterno think the coach was referring to when he was so distraught?A game of hide and seek?

The Athletic Director Timothy Curley, and Gary Schultz, senior vice president for finance and business, have now been charged with failing to report the alleged crimes.

Curley has been placed on administrative leave IE fired. Schultz is retiring.

Sandusky allegedly sexually abused eight boys from 1994 to 2009.

What of Paterno then? Can he avoid the Curley and Schultz faith just because he is a legendary football coach?

I don't think so. We call on every abusive priest to be fired and now on those who cover it up to be fired too.

Paterno undoubtedly fits that second category.

Fire Joe I say.
