Padraig Harrington is psyched up to take the leading role in Celtic Manor's, Ryder Cup.

Colin Montgomerie has put together his European team which is said to be one of the strongest teams ever put up by the continent. In fact Montgomerie had such a huge talent base of golfer to chose from that Harrington was only chosen on a wild card.

Harrington is confident that Montgomerie has made the right choice and believes that he's the right man to lead the team. Of past events he said "I think myself and a couple of the other senior players from the last Ryder Cup failed miserably…I don't think there was a leader of the team. We were lacking a Darren Clarke, a Monty, someone to lead out the players and be a role model.

"Monty will be a great captain. He was an unbelievable player-leader and there is something about that. At the last Ryder Cup after winning two majors, I was on a downward spiral and seriously tired. Everything was tough that week. It was a bit of a fight. But this time I am ready.

"I am more amenable, if they want me to go out first at six in the morning I am happy to do that. I am also ready to help the rookies. Before I would have offered advice if I was asked, but this time I am there and coming forward to help."
