Based on points accumulated through the International Boxing Association (AIBA) approved boxing matches, nine of this year’s top 20 boxers hail from Ireland. Returning for her third year in first place is Irish born Katie Taylor, reports Sports News Ireland.
Taylor tops her 60kg weight class with an impressive 1200 points, 400 points ahead of China’s Cheng Dong.
Joining Taylor in top 20 rankings are Darren O’Neill, Joe Ward, John Joe Nevin, Paddy Barnes, Ray Moylette, Michael Conlan, Ryan Burnett and Eric Donovan, all for their respective weight categories.
Making a notable jump in the ratings was Michael Conlan, who skyrocketed 38 spots from 52 to 14 for his flyweight weight class.
