Well, well, well.

Someone has finally called time on the whole Michael Jackson media circus.

New York congressman Peter King (probably aiming for some media coverage himself) has blasted Jackson as a low life and a pervert and slammed the media for glorifying him.

He's right.

Even in this celeb-obsessed world, the media has gone way-way-way over the top.

King makes the point that Americans serving in Iraq and Afghanistan have been airbrushed out of the picture while Jackson is front and center.

Well, that's hardly news Peter!

The media's been doing that for years.

As I write this, antiwar.com is reporting that American deaths in Iraq have already climbed to 4,323 with the most recent on June 29.

And worse, JustForeignPolicy.org says more than 1,320,110 Iraqi civilians have died since the invasion.

As Peter says, you'll search long and hard to read that kind of news in today's mainstream media.

And even with the Jackson coverage, why is it all whimsy?

Where's the investigative stuff?

What was going on with Michael Jackson and all those children?

For instance, what really happened with Jordy Chandler?

I worked on that story in the early 90s and for a time, it looked as if Jackson might face jail time.

He didn't but the case was closed with more questions than answers.

One of Jackson's staff, a woman named Adrian McManus, made serious allegations against Jackson claiming that, among other things, he filled baby bottles with wine and drank them with the children who would stay overnight.

It would be nice to think that this was all part of some sort of eccentric superstar behavior but there were always dark overtones.

I don't know if Jackson, as Peter King says, was a pervert, a child molester or a pedophile, but his behavior was downright bizarre and I can't imagine any parent letting their child next or near him.

Jackson took his secrets to his grave but they're the kind of secrets that may have destroyed someone else's childhood.

King was right to call the media on it.
