Described as a man with a “generous heart” and a “golden voice”, John was involved in the creation of a spectrum of events and organizations. He helped establish Comhaltas Ceolteoiri Eireann which has brought the Irish community here in Boston together through regular sessions and dancing classes as well as through myriad other events since its inception back in 1973.
John made an outstanding contribution to the local Irish based organizations, and we at the Irish International Immigrant Center are deeply gratefully for all the support he provided to us, especially in our early days. There are so many people out there, who are indebted to John’s help. David Mooney, one IIIC’s founding members said “we were a little green behind the ears, and he took us under his wing. He could always be relied upon and went out of his way to introduce us to the many people he knew”. We thank John for sponsoring the Morrison visa workshops here, for the prize donations and for giving us a shout-out on his radio station. John Curran; a truly great human being. Rest in peace, dear friend.
