Colin Hamell, Carmel O'Reilly and Bernard McMullan |
In 'Jimmy Titanic,' Colin Hamell brings the often told story of the ill-fated Titanic to life with his animated portrayal of an eclectic group of characters - as told from the other side of the Pearly Gates.
Colin's talent shines with his flawless delivery of accents, varying from a Belfast doc-worker to a couple of Cork men commenting on the mammoth ship in the bay. The frequent character changes keeps the fast paced play enthralling, with God portrayed as a hard-nosed Dub and introduces us to an effeminate, but mischievous Archangel Gabriel
Playwright Bernard McMullan weaves the dialog of this winning production with historic lore, fictional characters and contemporary humor. The show is directed by veteran Irish director, Carmel O'Reilly.
The Tir Na Theatre production of Jimmy Titanic can be seen at the New Repertory Theatre in Watertown through Sunday, June 30. For more information, visit newrep.org.
