Roisin O on stage last Wednesday night, July 31st, at
The Burren, Somerville.

Set in the back room of The Burren, last Wednesday, July 31st, promising new Irish singer, Róisín O, performed in a sell out show which left no doubt, that her star is rising.Growing up in a well known Irish musical family, Mary Black is her mammy and brother Danny O’ Reilly, sings with Irish band 'The Corona’s', Róisín certainly has a lot to live up to and on the night delivered and then some.

Her appearance at The Back Room Series at The Burren, Somerville was her debut performance on her first tour of America. Not only was she warmly received by the audience but at times her presence seemed to spell bound those in the room. Throughout the set, she was joined on stage by childhood friend Luke and like all good duo’s that have been singing together for quite some time, their voices blended together seamlessly.
Being a relatively new artist, Róisín O, has the same issues as most, how do you showcase your original music without leaving your audience behind? In between songs from her debut album, Róisín O, sang a selection of folk songs from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac and Paul Brady as well one or two classic Irish traditional songs that didn’t fail to delight her entranced listeners. Like all great gigs, the night ended too soon and suddenly as the lights went up, you could sense the spell that Róisín O had weaved throughout her performance being broken with considerable disappointment from her captive audience.
