Suicide Prevention Training - QPR
On Thursday January 31st from 10 am to 12 noon, the IPC will host ‘suicide prevention training’ for seniors in the community. Danielle Owen a qualified counselor in this area from the IIIC will be providing the training. Suicide is a devastating presence in our community. The aim of this training is to make people feel more comfortable talking about and recognizing the warning signs of a suicide crisis. As a QPR-trained person you will learn to;
· recognize the warning signs of suicide
· know how to offer hope
· know how to get help and save a life
Spaces are limited but if you are interesting in joining us give Eileen a call on 617-265-5300 X13.
Free Ways to Get Happy
We all love getting something for free. Getting some FREE happiness on these dark and cold days is even better!
Revel in good smells
Mood-elevating scented candles are great but expensive. You don't have to buy anything. You can smell fresh laundry, coffee beans or flowers!
Say hello
Overtime we get lazy about acknowledging people. Be it our family in the kitchen or an acquaintance on the street. Exchanging simple greetings, such as a quick hello instantly makes us feel more connected and happier!
Suffer for 15 minutes a day
Faced with an unwelcome task? Tackle a bit of it at a time. You'll get lasting relief from attacking a chore.
Smile and Laugh
Nothing is more contagious than a good dose of the giggles – laugh often and hard. A joke and smile are free and enjoyed by all!
Monthly Mass and Luncheon at the ICCNE
Despite the cold and chill many brave souls attended or lunch this month at the ICCNE. It was great to see such a large crowd and catch up with everyone after the holidays. A huge thanks to Mossie Coughlan for providing some great musical entertainment and keeping us on our toes! See you all again on February 21st and remember to call ahead on 855-479-2472 and reserve your spot!
Please feel free to call Eileen at 617 265 5300 x13 for more information on IPC Senior Citizen Outreach Program activities and services.
