Does anyone know what is going with Lou Dobbs?

One if his biggest backers, the ludicrously named Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), have pulled their support from him.

Why do I say they're ludicrously named?

Well like the late, unlamented Progressive Demcrats in Ireland who were neither progressive nor Democrat, ALIPAC has no interest in legal immigration.

They're anti-immigrant to the core. Do they really believe that anyone supports illegal immigration?

Anyway, to get back to my point, ALIPAC, who used to be one of Dobbs' biggest champions, have said they no longer support him or his ideas.

They're claiming that Dobbs has suddenly become a champion of immigration rights.

In a ponderously-worded press release they say they are "withdrawing support for Lou Dobbs after years, including the suspension of websites calling on Dobbs to run for President due to the perceived change in Mr. Dobbs's stances on immigration issues.

A William Gheen of ALIPAC said "His recent comments on Telemundo and his national radio show supporting some kind of path to citizenship for illegal immigrants is inconsistent with positions of
ALIPAC and the views of most American citizens."

Gheen says that Dobbs "created shock waves" with his appearance on Telemundo and said that ALIPCAC has sent the video to its 30,000 national supporters.

Gheen says ALIPAC was the first national organization to back Dobbs as a candidate for President but now they are parting ways.

ALIPAC has now suspended two Dobbs fan websites one of which had generated over $660,000 in pledges if Dobbs did decide to run for President.
