Senator John McCain took his revenge very calmly on President Trump in the early hours of Friday morning with a simple literal thumbs down for the latest iteration of the increasingly bizarre GOP attempts to kill Obamacare.
In so doing he may have ended the seemingly interminable nightmare that was the GOP drive to strip 16 to 25 million American people of their health care all in the name of $800 billion in tax cuts mostly for the rich.
It left the author of ‘The Art of the Deal,’ the current president Donald J. Trump, revealed as a faker, unable to get through the Republican House and Senate the pillar of his election campaign to repeal and replace Obamacare.
In the end, Irish American McCain took revenge for Trump's deadly attack on him last year calling him no hero because he was captured in Vietnam.
Coming from a man who avoided Vietnam by claiming a bone spur on his ankle it was downright disgraceful.

McCain simmered but never publicly took Trump to task.
Instead, last night he destroyed Trump’s signature promise of his presidency.

The collective madness of creating health care on the fly was a desperate attempt by the GOP to claim victory at any cost. Health care is one sixth of the federal budget, it is a larger budget than all but the total budget of four countries in the world.
It is not to be torn apart as part of some glorious ego trip by a president who believes only in victory at any cost
Lest we forget, there were two very brave female senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska who also defied the Trump juggernaut.
The Trump toadies, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell et cetera tried every weasel maneuver to throw tens of millions off health care in order to please their president.
The did not reckon on the Scots Irish great grandson of flinty Irish emigrants who took principle as a matter of pride and not something to give way because a bloviating president demanded it.
Oh, and it didn’t hurt to prove payback can be a bitch too.
