Despite earlier reports that Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley scored the much-coveted lead role in the upcoming Jeff Buckley biopic, it turns out that casting for the film is not yet set in stone. Producers for the film have denied any official casting, so Robert Pattinson could still land the role of his dreams, according to Digital Spy.

"Penn is not involved in the film at all. It's crazy how these stories get out. (The producers) are all very unified in our search to find the perfect person to play Jeff," co-producer Orion Williams told the'Los Angeles Times.'

"When you have a story about an individual like Jeff you get a lot of interest because his life was so impactful and so short. We're being very careful about it as we move forward. It takes a while to perfect this type of film. You've got to do it for the right reasons."

Williams added that preliminary meetings with Pattinson have been arranged, but that casting for the role won't officially be done until the fall.
