Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has reportedly been asked to come on board as a judge when The X Factor come to the US next year.

But Gallagher isn't a fan of the show, saying in a 2008 interview that it had "nothing to do with music."

However if he takes the bait it could lead to an interesting culture shock for American audiences, who may well struggle with regional British accents.

Noel, thought of as the heart and soul of Oasis, walked out of the band last year, with the rest of the group ploughing on under the name Beady Eye.

Meanwhile Noel has scoffed at The X Factor contestants in the past.

He said: "If somebody is dangling this carrot of 'fame and fortune' in front of a check-out girl from Barnsley who can sing like Britney Spears then they're going to go for it. But it seems to bring on instant mental illness."
