The 44-year-old actor sported facial hair in the Oscar nominated 'Les Miserables' and in 'The Wolverine' and although his spouse Deborra-Lee Furness likes some face fuzz she prefers it when he's stubble free.
However, the blonde star insists there are lots of benefits to having an actor for a husband - because his different looks make their sex life exciting.
In an interview with the new issue of Town & Country magazine: "I like him clean-shaven. But I like him all ways: chubby, muscley, skinny. It's like I'm always having affairs. (sic)"
Hugh and 57-year-old Deborra-Lee have been married for 17 years and the Hollywood star admits it was love at first sight for him.
The screen hunk decided almost straight away he wanted to marry the actress when he was introduced to her on the set of Australian TV show 'Correlli' but set himself a time limit before he popped the question.
Hugh - who raises two children, Oscar and Ava, with Deborra-Lee - said: "I decided, I won't ask her to marry me for six months. Then after four months I thought, That's the most ridiculous rule!"
