This years winner of "American Idol" Lee DeWyze recorded U2's hit song "Beautiful Day" as his winning song and it was released last week after he was crowned the 2010 Idol.
However sales of the single have plummeted instead of risen.
After winning last week the single was number three on iTunes but not less than a week later it has fallen to number 27.
The song has sold 25 percent less singles than last year's winner Kris Allen.
How is this possible- Allen's song "No Boundaries" was written by song writer and Idol judge Kara DioGuardia but DeWyze's was penned by possibly the biggest rock band in the world?
Would it have anything to do with the fact that DeWyze- who in fairness to him has descent chops- butchered the song!
Another comparison between last years winners and runners- up (Cyrstal Bowersocks took second place this year and Adam Lambert was last years runner-up) - Allen and Lambert scored a combined total of 25 songs in the Top 200 Nielsen SoundScan digital charts and this year DeWyze and Bowersocks only scored nine.
Maybe America are just done with the show and it has nothing to do with the talent of the winners.
Next year will tell a lot!
