A Limerick man was arrested in Boston on Monday, September 29 for exposing himself to two women at a city train station.

Michael Joseph Brown, with an address in Limerick City, arrived at the station - according to camera footage - at 6:45 p.m. He spent the next 30 minutes exposing himself and masturbating to female straphangers who entered the station.

After receiving a call from a woman who told police that a white male was exposing himself on the landing of the train station, the transit police arrived to Symphony Station at Massachusetts and Huntington Avenues.

According to the police report, moments after arriving, Officer Maria Dear officer spotted Brown, 34, standing in the lobby of the station with his pants down. Dear yelled at Brown to stop but he ignored her demands and continued.

Brown was finally detained by officers who used the subway wall as a barrier. Refusing to show his hands, Brown attempted to point his male genitalia towards officers.

He was finally put in handcuffs after other officers arrived on the scene.

A small zip-lock bag containing a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, was discovered in Brown's jeans pocket.

The woman who called the station later told police that she had walked down the stairs to catch a train when she noticed Brown. She walked past him towards the ticket machine.

She noticed Brown walking towards her in the reflection of the machine. Feeling scared, she turned around and saw Brown right behind her.

He asked her, "Do you want this?" and said, "Come here, look at this." She immediately headed for the exit and called 911.

A few minutes later, a second woman called the transit police, again stating that she felt someone's presence behind her at the ticket machine. She told police that she noticed Brown standing "extremely close" to her and could feel him against her lower back.

Similar to the first incident, he said to her "Do you like this?" "How do you like this?" Becoming frightened, she left the area and called the police.

Brown is being held on $10,000 bail and was committed for a 20-day psychiatric evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital. He is charged with open and gross lewdness and possession of a Class B substance.

He is to appear in court in Boston on October 20.

Brown faces up to one year in jail for possession of an illegal substance and up to three years in state prison on the charge of gross and open lewdness.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office said that Brown's bail has been set so high because he is a potential flight risk.

Brown's attorney, Tim Burke, told the Irish Voice on Tuesday he had just been assigned to represent Brown and was unable to comment on details pertaining to the case or Brown himself.

According to information Brown provided to police, he is single and living in Limerick. It is unclear if Brown was on vacation in Boston at the time of the incident.
