Tom and Leslie Bresette of the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation were honored at the American Ireland Fund’s annual Nantucket Celebration last Saturday. Their foundation recognizes prolific students and awards them college scholarships.

Bob and Paula Butler hosted the event in their Nantucket home.

Guests included Putnam Investments poobah Bob Reynolds and wife Laura, Vanity Fair’s Maureen Orth, former GE CEO Jack Welch and wife Suzy, Boston Capital kahuna Jack Manning and wife Lyle Howland, Boston Company CEO Bart Grenier and wife Lesley King, former congressman Bill Delahunt, chef Todd English, author Ted Bell, Summer House owners Danielle deBenedictis and Peter Karlson, Wynchmere Club owner Jim Apteker, developer Arthur Winn, First Act CEO Bernard Chiu, Sheila Palandjian, and the fund’s executive director, Stephen Greeley, reports the Boston Globe.

Founded in 1976, the American Ireland Fund is a philanthropic organization which supports worthy causes both in Ireland and here in the U.S. It has raised more than $370 million in support of more than 1,200 organizations.
