A 15-year-old girl died and three others were injured after a sledding accident in Co Cork on Saturday afternoon, according to Irish television RTE.
Two girls and two boys, aged between 14 and 16, were using a sheet of wood as a sled. The teenage girl, Aoife Downey, was killed after the sled went out of control on the icy slope and struck a tree on the Frankfield Golf Club, near Douglas, Co Cork.
Two of the teenagers remain in serious condition in a hospital in Cork and the fourth was discharged Saturday night.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
