Before Notre Dame Stadium makes the switch to artificial playing turf this summer, Fighting Irish fans have a chance to purchase a piece of the old Fighting Irish sod.
At the start of this week, the university announced that on Tuesday it would begin selling 2-foot-by-five-foot sections of turf for $149.95. The price includes a certificate of authenticity and two-day shipping. Sales are limited to five pieces per person and unlikely to last past Wednesday.
The stadium’s natural field is being replaced with artificial Field Turf in advance of the football season, following some issues with the playing surface in seasons past.
