Tom Hardy, of "Inception" fame, is set to star in the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie, "Batman 3".

Christopher Nolan approached Hardy to play the role of a villain. Hardy has also been cast as the replacement for Mel Gibson in the fourth "Mad Max" movie.

The actor shot to fame playing the role of Praetor Shinzon in "Star Trek: Nemesis" and the cheeky wise-cracking character of Eames in Christopher Nolan's last smash hit "Inception".

Rumors about the cast of this movie have been circulating for months. Robin Williams was also on the cards to play "The Riddler", according to reports, but now it seems that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has won the role.

Of course the fiery tempered Christian Bale will return as Batman along with Morgan Freeman, who plays Lucius Fox, and Gary Oldman, as Commissioner Gordon.

Michael Caine spoke recently about the movie and said that he presumes that he will included in the cast, as doting butler Alfred.

The 77-year-old actor said "It will probably start in May next year. I assume I'm there, but in the movie business you never believe anything, you assume.

"But I've been in the last four Chris Nolan pictures, he's my lucky charm."
