Katie Holmes recreated one of the saddest moments in American history yesterday when she filmed the JFK funeral scenes for her current role.

The actress is currently filming on location in Toronto and plays former First Lady Jackie Kennedy in the mini-series “The Kennedys”.

Holmes was dressed in a black shift dress, long leather gloves together with the First Lady's signature bob for the scene.

The eight-hour TV series and covers the rise of the family's political dynasty and the murder of JFK. It is set to air in the US next year on the History Channel. Greg Kinnear plays the role of President John F Kennedy.
 
Katie has received a lot of publicity in her current role. She recently struck a classic pose in a recreation of a famous photograph of the First Lady for the cover of New York Magazine’s fall issue.
 
President JFK was assassinated on November 22nd 1963 in Dallas Texas. His state funeral took place three days later in Washington DC. Hundreds of thousands of people attended to express their condolences before the president was laid to rest in Arlington cemetery. One of the most poignant moments of the funeral occurred when JFK Junior saluted his father’s casket as it passed.
