A Facebook page established in support of "X-factor" contestant Mary Byrne has attracted thousands of followers with people across the globe joining daily.

Succinct and to the point, the page is called “WOW Mary Byrne must win the X-factor 2010."

Almost 7,000 have expressed their support for the Dubliner. The site is flooded with messages of support.

Beth Johnson in Mississippi even got on board with the well wishes: “Your aunt has a beautiful voice and a great smile! I hope she will win. She is as good as Shirley Bassey or Tom Jones, I think. I am 66, so I grew up listening to Tom Jones on TV and records, and some of my friends would scream over him, lol!”

Kathy Best from Houston, Texas sent her message of support, “Amazing voice and great personality. Keep on going! From Houston."

The 50-year-old shop assistant gave a memorable performance at the Dublin "X-Factor" auditions with a rendition of Tom Jone’s “I Have Nothing."

Mary wowed the judges as Cheryl Cole told her, "That was my favourite audition from Dublin so far. It was just full to the brim with power, emotion and passion. I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I found myself getting goose bumps. It was fantastic."

After getting raves reviews from all four judges, Mary made it through to the next round of boot camp. Both UK and Irish tabloids have dubbed the single mum from Ballyfermot as the next Susan Boyle.
