Just as the world is no stranger to Bradley Cooper’s handsome, boyish face, it is undoubtedly used to his role as the macho man as seen in “The Hangover,” “Wedding Crashers,” and “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

While Cooper’s snagged the main role again in “Limitless,” however, he revealed that he was excited to play the inward, dark character of the lead that’s so different from his other major roles.

In “Limitless,” Cooper plays Eddie Morra, a struggling writer who is given a pill that allows him to access 100% of his brain capacity, instead of the normal 20%. The film documents the obstacles that come his way after the pill totally transforms him grungy lifestyle into one that’s more sophisticated, powerful, and dangerous.

Robert De Niro comes in as Carl Van Loon, a rich business that invites Morra to participate in “the largest merger in corporate history,” according to the movie’s website. The people he’s introduced to, however, turn his life to jeopardy as they’re really interested in getting his stash of the magic pills.

Cooper expressed to the Post how much of an honor it was to work with movie legend Robert De Niro, and even credits him with his own career choices. "It was incredible, it was a dream come true... "Every aspect, the fact that he’s an amazing human being and became a good friend and then also that he’s Robert De Niro, the reason I became an actor to a large degree...to work with him now is just incredible."

Bradley Cooper confirms role of Lucifer in Milton’s ‘Paradise Lost’
While there is ample opportunity to fill the role of the newly successful and sophisticated business, Cooper revealed to the Huffington Post that the scene that he was most excited for is not one that highlights Morra’s new persona.

He explained, “I have to say the one scene that sort of pushed it over is when Eddie drinks the blood and I thought 'I have to do that scene in the movie." The scene he’s referring to is when Morra is reduced to a beaten pulp after being attacked by a powerful mob man and his “ruthless squad of thugs.”

He continued with, "I had never seen it before, and it was the ultimate visual of how desperate this guy is, the lengths this guy goes to.”
The actor is also taking on a more proactive role in this film as its Executive Producer. He explained that “Being able to have an EP [executive producer] title allowed you to be in all of the conversations without having to apologize all the time...Being able to be there from pre-to-post-production with the casting and then you know just creatively being there, being able to collaborate on every level...”

Cooper also draws some personal connections to his “Limitless” character. He’s career-driven like Morra; if being executive producer for the flick isn’t enough, he’s also writing a film adaptation for the book series “Hyperion Cantos” by Dan Simmons, which he plans on directing. The stories are set in a futuristic, science-fiction era.

Continuing with his serious streak, Cooper is in the process of filming his newest indie movie, “The Place Beyond the Pines,” set to be released in 2013. The story, set in Schenectady, NY, is about a motorcycle stunt rider (Ryan Gosling) who faces committing a crime in order to provide for him family. Along the way, he runs into some drama with a rookie police officer (Cooper).

Some of Cooper’s more famous film and television appearances include: Jake in "Sex and the City," "Wet Hot American Summer,""Wedding Crashers," Will Tippin in "Alias," "Yes Man," "He's Just Not That Into You," "Valentine's Day," “Limitless,” and "The Hangover" film series.
