The 24-year-old singer has admitted he was getting "fat" but has now dropped down to more healthy weight and going on a diet and taking regular exercise.

During a visit to a Subway fast food restaurant in Australia with '60 Minutes' reporter Peter Stefanovic, he joked about his eating habits.

Peter said: "This dovetails into Ed Sheeran, a man of the people right?"

Ed replied: "No, just 'Ed Sheeran: Fat F**k'! No, I lost a lot of weight. I was like 15 stone (210lbs) and now I'm 11 (154lbs), well, almost 12 (168lbs)."

Now he has dropped the weight, the 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker is a lot more confident in himself, and now - having recently broken up with his girlfriend of almost a year Athina Andrelos - has admitted he's on the lookout for a girl he can share his life with.

Ed also cited his parents' 30-year marriage and grandparents' 66 years together as a big reason to find a partner to "stick with".

Ed said: "My dad's Catholic, and we come from a very close Irish family, all close together. My parents have been married for 30 years, my grandparents were together 66 years. I'm definitely bred into that life of you find a partner and you stick with them."
