The 65-year-old reality TV star - who was known as Bruce Jenner before her transition - has expressed regret for not explaining the "severity" of her personal torment over the mismatch between her sex and gender identity to her ex-wife Kris Jenner, who she divorced earlier this year.

Caitlynn admitted: "Probably a mistake I made was maybe not having her understand - not the severity of it but that this is a condition you cannot get away from.

"From that standpoint, maybe I blew it away a little bit, sort of 'This is what I do.'"

Caitlyn - who has daughters Kendall, 19, and 17-year-old Kylie with the showbiz matriarch, as well as four other adult kids from two previous marriages - confessed her life was riddled with "turmoil" as she tried to balance raising her children with coping with her personal troubles.

She told Vanity Fair magazine magazine: "I have made a lot of mistakes raising the Jenner kids. I had times not only dealing with my own issues but exes. [It was] very traumatic and there was a lot of turmoil in my life."

Meanwhile, Linda Thompson, who was married to the former Olympian from 1981 until 1986, admitted the "pain" she's felt over Caitlyn's gender dysphoria pales in comparison to that experienced by her former spouse.

Linda - who has sons Brandon and Brody with Caitlyn - shared: "I thought my pain doesn't compare to the pain that he's in.

"At least I'm comfortable living in my own body."
