A new Anglo-Irish podcast aims to "cross the bridge" between Britain and Ireland through serious but humorous "offbeat" discussions about Irish and British current affairs.

Dubliner Ciaran Casey and Londoner Jim Corbett, who lives in Cork, have joined forces to launch "The Artificial Hipsters Cross the Bridge Podcast", which delves into modern life and politics in Ireland and Britain.

Casey and Corbett, who profess a dislike for "extremism and wokery", mix light-hearted conversion with serious topics, exploring issues such as whether "Real Ale is better than Guinness" while simultaneously exploring whether the "Right is on the rise in Ireland".

Casey described the new podcast as an "exciting new concept" and said it would help to explore links between Dublin and Cork and Ireland and Britain.

"This is an exciting new concept which not only crosses the Bridge between Cork
and Dublin but also between Britain and Ireland," Casey said in a statement.

Corbett, meanwhile, said the podcast aims to host discussions that reach "reasonable conclusions" and said the two hosts would seek to avoid "mudslinging".

"We want to host discussions which are not mudslinging like much digital media,
but which aim to reach reasonable conclusions through honest and informed
debate. Although we’re not afraid of strong nor unpopular opinions," Corbett said.

The Artificial Hipsters Podcast, which has already launched on all major podcasting platforms, aims to have an "open door policy", allowing listeners to record short inserts about their thoughts or their lives to be played on the show.

However, anyone willing to submit their thoughts must be prepared to answer questions from Casey and Corbett.

"The opinions voiced must be interesting, legal, and not personally abusive," Casey and Corbett added.

Anyone interested in submitting a recording is asked to email Casey and Corbett at artificialhipsters@proton.me.
