A sad farewell to Ollie Conway, the Mullagh publican in Co. Clare who was buried last Saturday in the Mullagh Cemetery in West Clare.
A mighty singer and set dancer for many a year, his pub just outside Miltown Malbay was one of the choice destinations for those in the know during WillieWeek or other times where the music, song and dance were fierce.
The pub closed a few years ago as part of the decline of the rural country pubs. He was part of a brilliant Mullagh half set that danced at the Smithsonian 1976 Bicentennial Festival in Washington, D.C., and also captured in full battering mode on one of Come West Along the Road video recordings.
