Leader of the opposition party, Fine Gael, Enda Kenny questioned the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Brian Cowen yesterday about whether Bertie Ahern’s behavior in The News of the World advertisement as “conduct that is becoming” to an ex country leader.
Former Prime Minister, Bertie Ahern, appeared in a cupboard in the ad to promote his new Sunday column with the tabloid newspaper.
Kenny asked Cowen if the former prime minister had consulted him before he took part in the advert. He said that Ahern had had to honor of being elected three times by the Irish public and he was still in receipt of public money.
Mr Cowen did not respond. The Chairman of the house, Seamus Kirk, said the question was out of order.
