The Irish national became irate after being denied more wine

An Irish woman has been arrested at Heathrow Airport following a drunken rant on her Air India flight from Mumbai.

On Saturday, business class passenger Simone O'Broin became irate on her flight when the crew stopped serving her alcohol. Fellow passengers captured the woman’s "shameful" outburst.

In an expletive-laden video that is making the rounds on social media, O'Broin can be seen berating the decidedly calm and professional Air India flight crew while demanding more wine.

Passenger and journalist Tarun Shukla shared the videos to Twitter:

“So, you think I'm scared when you threaten me with lawyers?” O'Broin says. “Also, Irish Republican Army. You'll be f***ing shot. All you had to do was to give me a f***ing drink.”

On Wednesday, prior to the passenger's name being released, Shukla commented that while the woman appears to have a British accent, sources including the Air India crew are saying she is an Irish national:

Have checked with multiple Air India people and all have said she is Irish, even if her accent looks British. Hope @metpoliceuk can clarify since they have arrested her and release her name. Happy to correct if its any different. @HeathrowAirport

However, later in the day, it was revealed that the name of the irate passenger was indeed Simone O'Broin, who was born in Belfast and went to university in the UK.

London Metropolitan Police has confirmed that the woman was taken into custody at Heathrow Airport upon landing.

“At approximately 1.30pm on Saturday, 10 November, a 50-year-old woman was arrested after an Air India flight had landed at Heathrow Airport,” a police spokesperson said.
