Europe’s largest bookmakers, the Irish company, Paddy Power is already taking bets on who will win in the 2016 election and Republican Candidate Mitt Romney is the top runner.

The 2012 Republican candidate gets odds of 9 to 2 with hisIrish American Vice Presidential running buddy, Paul Ryan, in the running at 7 to 1. Hillary Clinton is third  at just  8 to 1. Andrew Cuomo, who has got great press for his handling of Hurricane Sandy, is an enticing 25/1 as is Vice President Joe Biden.

Also in the running is Irish American governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley at 33/1.

Of course the Romney bet at 9/2 would look really good if he won in 2012 and was running for re-election in 2016 .

Sarah Palin at 66/1 and Donald Trump at 100/1 are the complete outsiders.

IrishCentral’s poll among Irish Americans this week found that Barack Obama is favored by a narrow lead of 51 to 48.

A recent BBC World Service poll showed that world wide, in every country in the world, Barack Obama was the favored candidate. Similarly in Ireland a poll showed that 96 percent of voters were pro-Obama.

Are Paddy Power expecting a massive swing towards the GOP with the top two slots falling to Republicans? Or could Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden climb up the charts?

What’s sure is this list could be very different come Tuesday when this year’s votes are counted.
