Dublin’s fire brigade – pride, whiskey, and the Easter Rising fires
The largest Dublin fire of the 19th century took place in the Liberties in 1875, when Malone’s Bonded Warehouse caught ablaze. After this, Powers established their own fire brigade as an extra safety measure. During a pivotal moment in the wake of the 1916 Easter Rising, they came to the city's rescue.
