The largest Dublin fire of the 19th century took place in the Liberties in 1875, when Malone’s Bonded Warehouse caught ablaze. After this, Powers established their own fire brigade as an extra safety measure. Historian and retired firefighter, Les Fallon at the Dublin Fire Brigade Museum, explains how when duty called Powers' fire brigade did not limit themselves to the confines of the distillery. During a pivotal moment in the wake of the 1916 Easter Rising, they came to the city's rescue.
