Staying safe during Storm Emma and Beast from the East is no laughing matter but Ireland is continuing to deal with the red alert weather warning in the best possible way but amusing each other online with some of the funniest tweets, jokes, memes, puns and viral videos we’ve seen in a long time.

If you’re electricity has not borne the brunt of the adverse weather conditions, which we presume it hasn’t if you’re reading this, then Reddit Ireland is a great place to while away the hours till you can leave the house again but to save you a bit of time, here are a collection of some of our favorites.

We’re generally not known for preparing too well for the weather (hence why we never carry umbrellas when it rains all the time) but even this may be taking things a step too far:

And people are more than taking advantage of the fact that we’re all inside, bored and scrolling mindlessly through our phones all day.

Other countries are also getting in on the action and we’ve become the butt of the joke to those who are used to this kind of weather on a regular basis. They should all remember that we don’t really mind, we’re perfectly happy continuing to have the craic and have an extra few days off work and school:
