Saoirse Ronan stars in the satirical comedy-thriller 'Bad Apples.'Paramount Pictures

Saoirse Ronan has spoken about stepping out of the limelight so her work doesn't go "stale", so you can bet your bottom dollar that anything she signs her name to is going to be top-notch.

And thus, "Bad Apples" takes center stage. It's an upcoming comedy-thriller film set for release in September, and now that we've seen a trailer, we're beyond excited to head to the cinema.

Here's everything you need to know about "Bad Apples", Saoirse Ronan's next flick.

What is Bad Apples about?

"Bad Apples" is a comedy-thriller film directed by Jonatan Etzler in his English-language debut. The screenplay was written by Jess O'Kane, based on Rasmus Andersson's debut novel "De Oönskade".

The film follows Maria, a primary school teacher whose classroom is dominated by an incredibly disruptive pupil.

After one of the pupils is injured, Maria's increasingly desperate attempts to regain control of her classroom spiral into a series of morally questionable decisions.

Eventually, the situation escalates into a dark hostage scenario, blending psychological tension with a touch of comedy.

The film explores burnout, the impossible expectations placed on teachers, and how pressure can lead the most ordinary of people to make catastrophic decisions.

It's sure to be a cathartic watch for some primary school teachers out there!
