Saoirse-Monica Jackson in "The Trial."Channel 5
No matter what program the cast of "Derry Girls" appear in, it is bound to be a success, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson is about to add another hard-hitting drama to her list.
"The Trial," which takes place in the year 2035, when a young teenager, Teah, commits a horrendous crime and because of her age, her parents are dragged into the centre of it.
The one-hour drama on Channel 5 will make you question whether or not parents should be held responsible when they break the law.
Both parents, Dione (Claire Skinner) and David Sinclair (Ben Miles), find themselves being interrogated by the Office of Judicial Inquisition, a new brand that has been formed.
The Sinclairs find themselves being charged with violating Milligan's Law, which holds parents accountable for the actions of their children.
Saoirse-Monica Jackson takes on the role of Judicial Inquisitor Sarah Willis, who will leave no stone unturned when it comes to uncovering the flaws of Teah's parents. She aims to find them guilty while dragging up history, the parenting skills, and if she succeeds, both parents will be jailed for something their daughter did.
With the response to Netflix's "Adolescence," this drama makes the viewer think about how life unfolds for parents when their children come up against the law and ask the question: Are the parents to blame?
With a stellar line-up, this show will have you glued to the screen from the beginning, and the good news is you won't have long to wait.
